How to create a contact link on WhatsApp
If the idea of using the new features of the application scares you, do not worry, as creating WhatsApp call links is easy and anyone can do it. Just follow the steps below to get started:

  • Open WhatsApp on your phone.
  • Click on the "Calls" button.
  • Now press "Create Call Link."
  • Select the call type and choose between a voice call or a video call.

Now tap on Share Link or Copy Link; if you go with Share Link, you can choose anyone in your WhatsApp contact list to send it to them simply by searching for their name in the search bar, whereas if you choose to use the Copy Link option, you will have to paste the link into a chat with them on a different platform or send it via email.

That's it; now all you have to do is start the call and wait for the person or people you invited to join. Joining a call is as simple as clicking Join Call under the link and then the Join button in the call preview; there is no sign-in as in other conference calling platforms such as Zoom and Skype, which makes joining a conversation faster and easier, especially when joining late.

Tips for using WhatsApp call links

Some WhatsApp users may not be aware of contact links, so it is better to tell them in advance that you will be sending them a contact link and what it is for and how to join a call using one, and of course do not neglect telling them the time they will need to join the call and how long the call may take approximately; it will help them prepare. It is more about clearing their schedule than leaving your call unanswered because they are busy.

Similarly, if you have invited people to a WhatsApp video call, let them know in advance so they can prepare accordingly, and lastly, share your call link only with people you know and trust; for example, don't share it publicly in your WhatsApp status or on your stories on other social media platforms. This is to avoid bad actors and strangers from joining your call, which could disrupt it and make everyone feel uncomfortable.
